Company Overview

Perry Ellis International, Inc. represents a diverse portfolio of lifestyle apparel brands. The Company, through its wholly owned subsidiaries owns and licenses nationally and with a brand portfolio of over 40 Brands domestically and internationally recognized brands including: Perry Ellis®, Original Penguin® by Munsingwear®, Laundry by Shelli Segal®, Rafaella®, Cubavera®, Ben Hogan®, Savane®, Grand Slam®, John Henry®, Manhattan®, Axist® and Farah®. The Company enhances its roster of brands by licensing trademarks from third parties, including: Nike® for swimwear, and Callaway®, PGA TOUR®, and Jack Nicklaus® for golf apparel.

Position Summary:

Perry Ellis International is seeking a creative, highly organized Associate Textile Designer to join our art and design team in Miami, FL. Reporting directly to the Art Director, this position focuses 100% on pure creative execution—developing original, brand-specific prints, patterns, and surface artwork across a wide array of men's, women's, golf, Latin, and sleepwear lines. You will translate seasonal trends into original painted, drawn, or digitally created artwork, cleaning prints, color-reducing files, and ensuring all assets are technical, production-ready, and delivered on strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Original Artwork & Print Creation: Create original textile prints, patterns, and surface artwork (including hand-painted florals, watercolors, and fine-art layouts) that align with seasonal concept directions across multiple brands.

Production & Technical Preparation: Execute advanced print technicals—color-reducing, cleaning artwork, indexing colors, setting up production-ready mechanicals, and putting designs into seamless repeat for global factories and vendors.

Multi-Brand Execution: Balance a high-volume workload across multiple brand portfolios (including Perry Ellis, golf, lifestyle, and licensed apparel), keeping track of distinct aesthetic guidelines and project timelines.

Trend Translation & Research: Conduct research on macro print, color, and textile trends to support the creation of fresh, market-relevant patterns and collections.

Archive & Asset Management: Maintain physical and digital print libraries, keeping raw artwork files, vector assets, and factory-ready packs organized for cross-functional access.

Qualifications:

Experience: 1-2+ years of applied print, textile, or surface design experience in the apparel/retail industry. (Note: This role requires dedicated textile/print experience; pure graphic or corporate layout design will not be considered.)

Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA, BS, or BFA) in Textile Design, Print Design, Illustration, or a related surface design field preferred.

Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) is required, particularly with tools used for color reduction, artwork cleaning, and pattern repeats.

Generative AI & Software: Experience with NedGraphics, Adobe Firefly, or AI-driven artwork tools is a plus.

Portfolio Requirement: A comprehensive surface design portfolio demonstrating hand-artistry (watercolors, florals, drawn elements), layout composition, repeat patterns, and color-reduced print executions.

Personal Attributes & Work Style:

Fine-Artistry & Layout Focus: True textile artist mindset with an understanding of hand-drawn/painted elements, scale, color application, and flow across a garment.

High-Volume Multitasker: Ability to manage multiple projects, brands, and tight deadlines simultaneously without feeling overwhelmed.

Exacting Attention to Detail: Precise focus on technical accuracy when preparing factory-ready files, mechanicals, and color separations.

Adaptable & Resilient: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
