Specific Job Description:

RMSL is a growth company with an outstanding job opportunity for a Test Engineer. This position is full time, at-will exempt and will report to the Director of Engineering at RMSL.


Duties Include:

  • Work with engineers and technicians to design, coordinate, develop and execute test plans that meet customer requirements while placing safety first
  • Draft proposals for testing programs and operating procedures; outline specific testing conditions to be applied
  • Drafts detailed technical reports to present findings; based on findings, recommends modifications needed to correct production problems
  • Design, construct, and implement high-tech instrumentation and remote/automated systems that collect data in a safe, effective, and reliable manner
  • Help design test stands/fixtures
  • Identifies any problems with new products; makes adjustments or recommendations to resolve problems
  • Use software design tools such as SolidWorks and Labview to help support test development and measurement activities
  • Independently perform routine, non-routine, and moderately complex test series
  • Participate in the brainstorming and design process for new products, instrumentation, and processes
  • Gain knowledge and skills in the laboratory testing portion of RMSL. Assist in laboratory testing and designing laboratory test plans, as required
  • Interface with RMSL customers, teammates, and partners in a professional manner
  • Perform other duties and assumes other responsibilities as requested
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization


Required Skills:

  • Experience in a test environment that involved energetic materials, explosives or firearms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to discuss product flaws in a constructive and positive manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare test reports and proposals
  • Must be able to follow schematics, assembly drawings, safety operating procedures, and execute test plans
  • Thorough understanding of electrical, digital, and analog circuitry and electronics
  • Good understanding of microprocessor-based electronics and electrical circuits
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced productive environment with growth potential
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including expert-level understanding of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.; must have the ability to see near and far and work with a computer monitor on a daily basis
    • Required to bend, sit, stand and lift to perform job effectively
    • Work in an office environment as well as laboratory and outdoor test range (hands-on)
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary to meet goals


Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with PCB, Raspberry Pi and Arduino systems


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Good aptitude for problem evaluation and troubleshooting
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain State of Colorado Type 1 Explosives Blaster permit
  • Ability to obtain security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in related field from a university, college or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education. Years of relevant experience a plus.
