Starting wage is based on experience and shift. In addition to a base wage, every associate is eligible for quarterly profit sharing!! Various shifts are available and off shifts include additional shift differential pay.

Position Summary:
An experienced machinist able to support production through the use of manual equipment and independently solve problems. Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal-working dies, cutting tools, fixtures, gauges, and machine hand tools. Depending on Ruger campus location, toolmakers may create precision molds to support manufacturing using vertical milling centers, EDM centers, precision grinders, and 3-D printers.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proficiency in the operation of manual mills, lathes and grinders.
  • Proficiency in Geometry, Trigonometry, basic Algebra, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to select and use appropriate cutting tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to create work-holding fixtures and gauges for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience with basic machining principles including; tooling types, speeds & feeds, threading, surface finish, and tool holding (i.e. collets, chucks).
  • Familiarity with CAD software.
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, test indicators, and Cadillac gauge.
  • An understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics in fixtures.
  • Depending on Ruger campus location, a working knowledge of Heat Treat, materials.
  • Ability to use Fagor/advanced conversational controllers-program mill, MasterCam, or CAM software.
  • Self-Motivated to work independently or with associates on the line to find solutions to problems.
  • Detail & quality oriented.
  • Communicate detailed or important information to others accurately.
  • Must be capable of prioritizing and time management while working under pressure with minimal amount of supervision.

Physical Demands:
Associates are frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position can involve sitting, walking and lifting up to 40 pounds several times throughout the day. Job is performed standing all day. Job requires substantial movement/motion with regard to walking, bending, lifting, grasping and applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.
Requirements:
You must be a minimum of 18 years old, and able to pass both a background and drug screen.
