Job Description
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Salesperson to join our dynamic team.
At Wayman Fire Protection, you will play a critical role in our business development process by accurately estimating the cost and resources required for fire alarm and security system projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fire protection and security industry, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and the installation team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Assessment: Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to develop accurate and detailed estimates for fire alarm and security systems.
  • Cost Estimation: Calculate material, labor, overhead, and other costs associated with projects. Utilize industry software and estimating tools to prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns.
  • Bidding Process: Prepare and submit bids in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with client requirements and timelines. Collaborate with project managers to determine the scope of work and required resources.
  • Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing on materials and services. Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors as needed.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks associated with projects and factor those into estimates and bids. Propose solutions to mitigate risks and enhance project success.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, submissions, and correspondence related to bidding and project management. Ensure all documentation is complete for audits and reviews.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, field teams, and clients to clarify project details and ensure estimates align with project execution plans.
  • Market Research: Stay informed on industry trends, competitor pricing, and emerging technologies to provide informed estimates and recommendations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating within the fire alarm and security industry.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
