Fire Safety Coordinator

John Knox Village is seeking a knowledgeable, proactive, and detail-oriented Fire Safety Coordinator to join our team!

This full-time position plays a critical role in supporting the safety and well-being of our residents, employees, and visitors by overseeing campus-wide fire prevention, fire protection, and life safety initiatives. As the Fire Safety Coordinator, you will help ensure compliance with all applicable fire safety regulations while fostering a culture of safety throughout our community.

Position Summary

The Fire Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and enforcing fire prevention and life safety programs across the John Knox Village campus. This position oversees compliance with fire codes, life safety regulations, inspection requirements, and preventative maintenance programs related to fire protection systems and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee and enforce fire prevention regulations and compliance standards throughout the campus.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable Building Codes, National Fire Codes, fire prevention bylaws, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct fire prevention and life safety inspections to maintain compliance.
  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain fire protection systems, including:
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Sprinkler systems
    • Fire pumps
    • Fire extinguishers
    • AHCA-required fire safety equipment within medical facilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and address fire and life safety concerns across campus.
  • Collaborate with management, contractors, building inspectors, and regulatory agencies regarding fire safety matters.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, testing, maintenance activities, and compliance records.
  • Provide education and guidance on fire safety and fire prevention practices to residents and staff.
  • Participate in safety meetings, emergency preparedness initiatives, and campus-wide safety programs.
  • Review plans, drawings, and blueprints as needed to ensure code compliance and operational safety.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Safety Management, Emergency Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a fire department, fire prevention program, fire safety organization, or related environment required.
  • Experience coordinating inspections and ensuring regulatory compliance preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, life safety regulations, and fire prevention requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, residents, vendors, contractors, and regulatory officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
