Job Summary

As a Fire Protection Engineer at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant your role will be to provide engineering evaluations and documentation to support plant modifications and provide engineering evaluations in support of plant needs. In addition, you will be expected to investigate emergent equipment failures and provide creative solutions when applicable. This position will also be trained and qualified as an Electrical Design Engineer as part of your responsibilities

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serving as a Fire Protection Engineer as your primary role supporting plant evaluations and changes.
  • Serving as a design qualified engineer in Electrical or I&C systems in support of plant design changes.
  • Providing solutions for Problem Solving, Decision Making, Troubleshooting.
  • Preparing technical engineering products: reports, evaluations, and design changes to the plant.
  • Developing and completing investigations and corrective actions in accordance with the Corrective Action Program.
  • Performing field walk-downs and interfacing with other groups to resolve emergent and routine plant issues.
  • Reviewing schedules and maintenance work orders to ensure efficient work implementation/scheduling.
  • Championing system design change improvements and enhancements.
  • Actively seeking formal and informal learning opportunities to better understand technical policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Develop effective working relationships with other departments and employees within you own work group to establish a professional network

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Engineering Field required. Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 yrs. relevant job experience - Fire Protection Engineering
  • Experience in Electrical and/or I&C systems is preferred.
  • Prior plant system engineering experience, including experience with electrical, and I&C components, is preferred.
  • Being able to work independently with little Supervisory involvement is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with ability to make formal technical presentations to various management levels.
