The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of mechanical infrastructure for one or more transit stations delivered by Trillium Rail Partners within a progressive design-build environment.

The role ensures that station mechanical systems—including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, pumping systems, and tunnel ventilation interfaces—are fully integrated into the broader rail and station systems architecture.

The position is accountable for technical coordination, mechanical systems integration, constructability, and performance compliance from design development through commissioning and revenue service readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery, Leadership & Systems Integration

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of station mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, tunnel ventilation interfaces, and pumping systems.
  • Manage and mentor a team of project coordinators, field staff, consultants, and subcontractors responsible for mechanical works.
  • Ensure mechanical infrastructure is fully integrated with station architectural, electrical, civil, structural, and rail systems.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with traction power infrastructure, ventilation systems, and emergency life safety systems.
  • Work closely with station construction teams and rail systems teams to maintain alignment across disciplines.

Technical Coordination & Oversight

  • Coordinate mechanical system design development through construction to ensure constructability and system performance.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary BIM coordination (Revit/Navisworks) to resolve spatial conflicts within station environments.
  • Review and coordinate mechanical shop drawings, technical submissions, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, NFPA 130, and project performance specifications for mechanical and life safety systems.

Planning, Controls & Commercial Management

  • Develop and monitor mechanical construction schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk registers aligned with station delivery milestones.
  • Support procurement and delivery of long-lead mechanical equipment including ventilation systems, pumps, heat exchangers, and HVAC units.
  • Review and manage variations, delay claims, and entitlement matters related to mechanical scope and system interfaces.
  • Validate subcontractor payment applications against installation progress and contractual milestones.

Construction Execution, Subcontractor & Supplier Management, Testing & Turnover

  • Manage field execution of station mechanical works including HVAC installation, plumbing systems, drainage infrastructure, fire protection systems, and ventilation equipment.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and schedule requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and resolve technical or field issues.
  • Coordinate installation sequencing with station construction teams, electrical teams, and other trades.
  • Enforce compliance with the project Integrated Management System, safety protocols, and quality assurance processes.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for mechanical systems.
  • Lead commissioning activities and ensure completion of as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and turnover packages required for revenue service readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical construction within ICI, heavy civil, or transit infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering mechanical systems within complex station or facility environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
or equivalent trade certification and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ventilation, fire protection, plumbing, and mechanical installation practices in large infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating mechanical systems with electrical, architectural, and structural elements.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with focus on safety, quality, and schedule performance.
