Job description

As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for developing fire Protection l designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Specifically, this responsibility will include a variety of projects related to leading the planning, design, and commissioning of:
  • Building fire protection systems
  • Building fire suppression systems
  • Building fire alarm systems
Additionally,
In addition, this role will include coordination with other support disciplines, and coordination with regional offices. Assisting project managers in management of projects. Following quality assurance and quality control plans. Periodic travel to project sites will be required.
Abilities and attributes needed for this position:
  • Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
  • Mentor and train technical staff.
  • Interfacing with clients on project design, delivery, and construction.
  • Managing project budget and schedule compliance.
  • Overseeing the fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase.
  • Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
  • Utilize software based calculation tools for design calculations
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently
  • Be responsible for time management and product quality
  • Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
  • Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university or college.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer having passed the Fire Protection examination.
  • 5-10 years of building design and construction industry experience
  • Must have a knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs
  • Proven experience overseeing fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec
  • Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
