Job description

As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Specifically, this responsibility will include a variety of projects related to leading the planning, design, and commissioning of:
  • Building fire protection systems
  • Building fire suppression systems
  • Building fire alarm systems
Additionally,
In addition, this role will include coordination with other support disciplines, and coordination with regional offices. Assisting fire protection engineers in the design of building projects. Following quality assurance and quality control plans.
Abilities and attributes needed for this position:
  • Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
  • Interfacing with project teams on project design, delivery, and construction.
  • Managing project budget and schedule compliance.
  • Fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase.
  • Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
  • Utilize software based calculation tools for design calculations
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently
  • Be responsible for time management and product quality
  • Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
  • Be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team.
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of building fire protection design and construction experience
  • Must have a knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs
  • Proven experience with fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
  • Must have strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills
  • NICET certification in Fire Protection
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec
  • Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
