Job description

Description
Under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance, perform a variety of skilled duties involved in the mechanical maintenance of company vehicles, fire trucks, tractors, and buses. Also maintain various other company gear including grounds equipment, small gas engines and electrical powered equipment. Other duties include, but not limited to, maintain tools, records and repair orders
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical defects in a variety of grounds equipment including welding machines, cutting torches, impact hand tools, press machines, tire balancing machines, hoists, pressure washers and other gasoline and electric powered equipment.
  • Disassemble, replace and repair parts for engines including clutches, drive systems, gears, carburetors and electrical systems; replace and repair frame assemblies.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition; lubricate equipment as scheduled.
  • Maintain safety protection guards on cutters and moving parts.
  • Maintain accurate records or repair orders, preventive maintenance and repair records; order supplies and parts as required; order and maintain inventory of materials and safety supplies.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required, supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program in field of specialty.
  • Must have minimum three years journey-level experience in the repair of light and heavy gasoline and diesel automotive equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain Valid California Class B driver's license within 6 months of hire.
  • Good driving record and insurable on company policy.
  • Able to troubleshoot engine problems.
