Job description

Overview

We are seeking skilled Fire Alarm/ Low Voltage / Security Designers to join our team. In this role, you will design and generate low voltage and security system shop drawings, as well as prepare technical submittals, RFIs, and closeout documents for a wide range of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Design and/or draft low voltage and security system shop drawings, including Fire alarm and life safety systems, Access control systems, Video surveillance (CCTV/VMS), Intrusion detection systems, Structured cabling and other related low voltage systems
  • Support projects for multi-family, high-rise, and commercial buildings.
  • Work closely with HCI Project Managers and Account Executives to complete accurate designs and prepare submittals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare and manage technical submittals, product cut sheets, calculations, RFIs, and closeout documentation.
  • Apply company standards and National CAD Standards to all shop drawings.
  • Manage and update electronic and physical engineering libraries, including job folders, equipment manuals, technical data sheets, brochures, and templates.
  • Resolve design challenges through research and evaluation of multiple design alternatives.
  • Coordinate designs with other trades, AHJs, and building owners to ensure complete and compliant system designs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Identify out-of-scope work and design conflicts by reviewing contract documents, proposals, plans, and specifications.
  • Assist in developing efficient, code-compliant design solutions.
  • Respond to design-related questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Effectively communicate project status, risks, and design issues to management.
  • Perform document control tasks including printing, downloading, and filing.
  • Perform take-offs (counts) on plans for devices, cabling, and equipment.
  • Complete all required company paperwork accurately and on time.
Qualifications
  • Strong computer skills including a solid background in AutoCAD is a requirement.
  • Experience designing low voltage and security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
  • Industry related RCDD or similar certification is desired.
  • Computer proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
  • Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, have strong organizational skills, a multi-tasker, reliable, self-determined and have excellent follow up skills.
  • Possess the ability to take the initiative to get a project completed.
  • Applicants must meet requirements in relation to background and driving record.
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
