Job description

Middle School Security Guard

LOCATION: Fitzgerald High School

WORK YEAR: 2026-2027 School Year; 181 days per year

SALARY: Employed through EDU Staff; $17.00 per hour

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated ability to build positive & appropriate rapport with students.

Experience working with/supervising students

Physically able to continuously walk the hallways of the building.

Able to effectively prevent and/or intercede in student altercations in the building.

Trained in de-escalation techniques, preferred.

Ability to follow verbal and written directions.

Ability to use good judgment in accordance with policies and procedures.

Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience using general technology equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties Include

Supervise conduct of students in all areas within the school and support the staff with student behavior management.

Ensure that students are all following District and school policies and guidelines.

Ensures smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways, assists students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations as needed including parking lot supervision.

Assist with fire drills and other emergency building evacuations / lock downs.

Maintain security records and protect strict confidentiality of all information.

Supervise lunchroom during all appropriate times as directed.

Inform the building administration of all conduct believed to require student discipline or police contact.

Assist in updating discipline guidelines for students and staff.

Responds to all email, phone, written and verbal communications as directed.

Performs other duties as may be delegated by the building administration.
