Job description

This application is for volunteers with no prior experience or certification. If you hold a firefighting certification or course completion, please apply under (Certified Volunteer).
The Community Volunteer Fire Department is a response department that provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, and technical rescue response to an estimated population of 150,000 people within a geographic area of approximately 25 square miles. We are recruiting men and women who are dedicated to helping their fellow citizens.
Candidates must complete an on-site fire academy where they will learn how to perform firefighting, medical support, and related emergency skills through a combination of classroom and practical skills. Upon completion of the fire academy, members will be assigned to fire stations. Volunteer Firefighters are scheduled shifts based upon the member's availability each month.
This fire academy will provide the education necessary to obtain a NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification. There is no cost for this Fire Academy with the expectation that upon graduation, the member will volunteer as a firefighter with CVFD.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old on academy graduation day
Must have ability to do prolonged and physically strenuous work under hazardous conditions
Must be able to attend scheduled academy classes
Must submit at least 6 days of availability per month (12-Hour Shifts, weeknights and weekends) after graduation
Must be eligible to work in the United States
