Job description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Property Claim Specialist, experienced in handling both homeowners and dwelling fire property claims, to join our Property Claims division. The Senior Property Claim Specialist will be responsible for desk adjusting of first-party property claims within company guidelines and standards. Responsibilities include the ability to analyze coverage, investigate causes of loss, scope damages, review estimates, receipts, invoices, and estimate losses for proper claim evaluation and adjudication, assisting in the management and training of fellow team members, and assisting in the implementation of virtual claim technology.
This is a remote position. Our customers are located in the Northeast with expansion underway to the West coast, so candidates must be able to work a varied work schedule to support multiple time zones.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 per year
What you will do:
  • Adjust reserves and provide recommendations to ensure reserving activities are consistent with corporate policies.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with all parties when answering questions and gathering claim information.
  • Review and make necessary changes and adjustments to estimates.
  • Contact and/or interview insureds to obtain additional information to evaluate claims in a timely manner.
  • Enter claim payments, reserves into computer system by inputting concise and accurate file documentation.
  • ISO claim input and reporting.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate settlement while applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt resolution of cases which will result in a reduced loss ratio.
  • Maintain claim files with professional notes, claim summary, detailed analysis, and specific action plan with target dates.
  • Adhere to company service standards. Provide both internal and external written correspondence in a thorough professional manner.
  • Successfully handle various types of claims with the ability to handle both core and large loss claims.
  • Pay and process claims in a timely fashion, and within designated authority level.
  • Verify and analyze data used in settling claims to ensure that claims are valid and that settlements are made according to company practices and procedures.
  • Make timely, fair, and reasonable claim disposition within the states' good faith claims handling guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist in the training, supervision and mentoring of fellow team members on phone scoping, writing estimates of repair, and virtual claim technology.
  • Review and write estimates of repair for pass-through claims up to large losses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and mentor.
What you will bring:
  • A college degree (preferred).
  • Large loss experience (preferred).
  • 10+ years' experience managing and handling Homeowners and Dwelling Fire claims at an insurance carrier or Third-Party Administrator.
  • Continued insurance education and/or designations.
  • Xactimate knowledge.
  • Construction knowledge.
  • Ability to scope property losses.
  • An in-depth comprehension of insurance contracts and application of coverages.
  • Ability to identify subrogation and salvage opportunities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially in the event of a storm or catastrophe (CAT).
  • A strong team player with initiative and ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Must communicate professionally with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Responsive customer service orientation.
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of company software programs.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Must secure licenses in NY and all other required states where Kingstone polices are written (Kingstone will cover license costs for all staff).
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Experience working in a heavy Public Adjuster environment with strong conflict resolution skills.
