Division 173, Knoxville, TN

Summary

Responsible for installation, programming, and testing of fire alarm systems per project design drawings. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and interpret fire alarm and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Review drawings and verify parts for job are accurate.
  • Install and program fire alarm control panels and other equipment.
  • Mount devices, install conduit (if applicable) and wiring to connect system components per design drawings and applicable building codes and standards.
  • Perform all tasks associated with fire alarm installation, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics to ensure optimal wiring layouts.
  • Identify and repair any troubles and test all devices and components to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform final acceptance testing with the AHJ.
  • Produce reports and other documentation to certify the installation of the system.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fire alarm and/or low voltage installation experience is preferred.
