POSITION SUMMARY
Tech Electronics is seeking a Fire Alarm Estimating & Engineering Manager to lead our local engineering team while remaining actively involved in the technical work. This is a true working manager role-ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing accurate fire alarm system estimates, supporting system design, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with sales and operations to deliver successful projects.
The ideal candidate combines strong fire alarm estimating expertise with proven leadership skills and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Fire Alarm Estimating
  • Prepare detailed and accurate fire alarm system estimates for new construction, renovation, and retrofit projects.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and bid documents to develop competitive proposals.
  • Interpret applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements to ensure compliant system designs.
  • Work closely with Sales to develop value-engineered solutions that meet customer needs while maintaining profitability.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and customer consultations as needed.
Engineering Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop the local engineering team while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Assign engineering workloads and manage priorities to meet project schedules.
  • Review engineering deliverables for quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance development of engineering staff.
Project Collaboration
  • Partner with Project Managers, Operations, Sales, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance during project execution and assist with complex design challenges.
  • Support change orders, scope reviews, and technical documentation as projects evolve.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in fire alarm estimating, engineering, or system design.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and applicable codes, including NFPA 72 and the International Building Code.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating/design software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NICET Certification (Level III or IV preferred).
  • Experience with AutoCAD or fire alarm design software.
  • Experience estimating and designing systems from manufacturers such as Siemens, Notifier, Edwards, Honeywell, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, education, commercial, or industrial projects.
