Job description

Join Our Growing Fire Protection Team

Arapahoe Fire Protection, a Guardian Fire Services Company, has been providing trusted fire protection services throughout Colorado since 1989. With offices in Aurora, Colorado Springs, and Wheat Ridge, we provide inspection, service, repair, installation, and monitoring services for commercial fire protection systems.

We are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician who takes pride in their work, enjoys troubleshooting, and understands the importance of providing dependable service to our customers.

This position is ideal for a technician who can work independently in the field while also being part of a team committed to safety, quality, and customer service.

Position Responsibilities

As a Fire Alarm Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing commercial fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities include:

Perform inspections and testing of commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and local AHJ requirements.

Troubleshoot fire alarm system troubles, supervisory conditions, ground faults, communication failures, device issues, and other system deficiencies.

Diagnose system problems and complete necessary repairs.

Replace and install fire alarm devices, modules, notification appliances, initiating devices, power supplies, batteries, and other system components.

Perform system programming and configuration when qualified and authorized.

Test completed repairs to verify proper system operation.

Complete accurate inspection reports, service tickets, deficiency documentation, and repair records.

Clearly communicate system conditions, deficiencies, and recommended repairs to customers and AFP management.

Coordinate with customers, monitoring companies, inspectors, and other trades as necessary.

Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, equipment, and commonly used service materials.

Follow applicable NFPA standards, local fire codes, manufacturer requirements, and company safety procedures.

Participate in the company's on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as required.

Provide professional and courteous customer service while representing Arapahoe Fire Protection in the field.

Qualifications

Previous experience in inspecting, servicing, and troubleshooting commercial fire alarm systems.

Strong understanding of conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.

Ability to read fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, sequence-of-operations documents, and wiring diagrams.

Experience troubleshooting field wiring, initiating devices, notification appliances, modules, power supplies, communication equipment, and fire alarm control panels.

Experience with multiple fire alarm manufacturers and platforms is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements.

Familiarity with local AHJ requirements in the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs is preferred.

Licensing & Certifications

Current applicable Denver and/or Colorado Springs fire alarm licensing/certification is strongly preferred.

Candidates who already hold qualifying licenses or certifications may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.

NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification is preferred but not required depending on experience.

Additional manufacturer certifications and fire alarm training are a plus.

Compensation

$30.00$45.00 per hour, depending on experience, licensing, certifications, manufacturer training, and demonstrated fire alarm troubleshooting capabilities.
