Job description

Position Purpose

The Application Architect will design, guide, and support the bank's enterprise application architecture across core banking, lending, deposit origination, credit card, mortgage, integration, data, and Azure cloud platforms. This role partners with business, technology, risk, compliance, security, and vendor teams to ensure application solutions are secure, scalable, well-integrated, and aligned with the bank's strategic goals.

Position Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain application architecture standards, patterns, and roadmaps across the bank's application portfolio
  • Lead solution architecture for Commercial banking platform comprised of various SaaS applications, including Fiserv core banking, Abrigo loan origination, MANTL deposit origination, Q2 digital banking , Snowflake DLH and Salesforce. Support smaller credit card, home loan and GGL loan processing platforms.
  • Design secure, scalable, and supportable solutions that meet business, operational, compliance, and risk requirements
  • Guide Azure cloud architecture decisions, including identity, security, monitoring, integration, resiliency, and cost-effective design
  • Develop architecture diagrams, integration flows, technical designs, and solution recommendations.
  • Evaluate vendor platforms, technical proposals, and third-party solutions for architectural fit and long-term supportability
  • Partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, information security, risk, compliance, and vendors throughout planning, delivery, and implementation
  • Promote reusable patterns, disciplined change management, technical debt reduction, and strong documentation practices
  •  Delivery tools: Agile delivery practices, documentation repositories, release management, monitoring, alerting and production support processes
  • Support secure, reliable, auditable, and compliant technology solutions. This includes meeting internal policy expectations and supporting vendor risk management, change management, access governance, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, and regulatory requirements

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven or more years of experience in application architecture, solution architecture, enterprise applications, systems integration
  • Three or more years of experience in banking, financial services or fintech industry.
  • Experience designing integrations across vendor platforms, core systems, digital banking, data platforms, and cloud services
  •  Experience with Microsoft Azure architecture, including secure design, identity, monitoring, resiliency, networking, and cost-aware cloud patterns
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to business, executive, compliance, and technical audiences

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with Fiserv core banking, Abrigo, MANTL, mortgage, credit card, Salesforce, digital banking, or payments platforms
  • Experience with API-led connectivity, cloud-native design, DevSecOps, CI/CD practices, or architecture frameworks
  • Architecture certification such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent experience

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $165,000 annually. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, skill set, education, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description. 
  • Additional Compensation: This role will include a yearly annual target bonus based on individual performance.

Working Arrangements

  • This is a hybrid role. This person will ideally sit out of our Rockville, MD headquarters location.
