Legalist is a tech-enabled alternative asset manager that uses proprietary data-driven origination to invest in uncorrelated legal and government-payment assets. Founded out of Y Combinator in 2016, Legalist manages over $1.7 billion for endowments, foundations, and family offices.

Summary 

Legalist is looking for a hands-on marketing leader to own our marketing function end-to-end. You will be responsible for elevating our brand through thoughtful content, marketing materials, public relations, and digital communications. You will partner closely with leadership to strengthen our market presence, tell the Legalist story, and create compelling materials to help support business development and Legalist's continued growth. 

Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys both execution and strategy, as you'll partner with our internal stakeholders, work closely with designers and external partners, oversee all of our content creation and communications, and craft our presentations, newsletters, and marketing assets that represent Legalist. We're looking for someone who has led marketing functions before who is resourceful and excited to build. 

Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and drive an integrated marketing strategy that supports Legalist's business objectives and growth priorities
  • Partner with leadership to pinpoint opportunities for strengthening our market presence and elevating our brand
  • Translate business priorities into measurable marketing initiatives spanning brand, content, communications, and digital channels 
  • Establish our marketing priorities and measure effectiveness of initiatives 

Brand & Communications

  • Own Legalist's brand across all external marketing materials and communications
  • Ensure consistent messaging and visual identity across client-facing presentations and digital collateral
  • Manage relationships with designers, PR partners, and other external parties
  • Seek out opportunities to increase our brand visibility through PR, media opportunities, and thought leadership

Content & Business Development

  • Oversee Legalist's content strategy including newsletters, our website, thought leadership, and other marketing channels
  • Work closely with our internal subject matter experts to translate complex legal and financial topics into digestible and compelling content 
  • Own pitch decks, presentations, one-pagers, newsletters, and case studies that support business development efforts
  • Ensure that our website remains active and reflective of the Legalist brand
  • Partner with our designers and external website vendors to enhance our website experience

Analytics & Performance

  • Define KPIs and regularly evaluate marketing performance
  • Leverage data to identify opportunities and improve our marketing effectiveness
  • Build reporting that gives leadership clear visibility into marketing performance and business impact

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of B2B marketing experience, ideally within asset management, financial services, legal, fintech, or another relationship-driven industry
  • Strong preference for experience in content creation and brand marketing in the fintech, legal, or asset management space
  • Experience owning a marketing function in a growing company, or leading marketing in a lean environment
  • Strong marketing background, including brand marketing, content, communications, and PR 
  • Experience managing websites, creating marketing collateral, pitch decks, presentations, newsletters, and email marketing
  • Comfortable working with data to evaluate effectiveness and guide future strategy
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with experience partnering directly with senior leadership
  • Builder mindset with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and execute
