Job description

Job Summary:
HCL Global Systems Inc is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design, automation, and operation of secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure. The role involves building and managing modern compute platforms, implementing Infrastructure-as-Code, and mentoring other engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, automation, and operation of secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Build and manage modern compute platforms using EKS and ECS.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code to standardize and evolve our environments.
• Own CI/CD, observability, and reliability across the full development lifecycle.
• Work closely with software engineers, product leaders, and security partners to deliver high-quality features quickly and safely.
• Mentor both software developers and fellow DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years of proven experience building and operating large-scale systems on AWS, with strong familiarity across foundational services including VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS, S3, KMS, Route53, and networking.
• Deep experience operating containerized workloads using EKS (Kubernetes) and ECS (Fargate and EC2 launch types).
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as AWS CDK (TypeScript), Terraform, or CloudFormation to define and manage cloud environments.
• Strong DevOps and platform engineering capabilities, including CI/CD pipeline design, deployment automation, release management, and environment orchestration.
• Hands-on experience implementing observability—metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting—using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or OpenTelemetry.
• Strong programming or scripting skills in TypeScript, Python, Go, or Bash for automation and platform tooling.
• Excellent understanding of cloud security, least privilege, encryption, identity management, and zero-trust principles.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide both software developers and DevOps engineers, elevating the team's cloud literacy, reliability practices, and automation mindset.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, security, and leadership teams.
• Experience in agile development, rapid iteration cycles, and continuous improvement.
Preferred:
• Experience working in regulated or high-security industries such as FinTech, crypto, or healthcare.
• Background supporting highly available, large-scale distributed systems or performance-sensitive architectures.
• Familiarity with AWS cost optimization practices and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
