HDR Remodeling is an award-winning Design-Build firm celebrating 37 years of satisfied residential clients in the East Bay Area. We specialize in whole-house renovations, kitchen and bath remodeling, and garage and basement conversions. Our start-to-finish process — from design concept to permit-ready plans to production — will guide you along the way to make sure your project is completed on time and on budget and take the uncertainty and stress out of remodeling your home. Our philosophy — and passion — is to help our clients make their remodeling dreams come true.

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Carpenter with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in residential construction. This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow within a high-performing team and gain mastery over the full scope of carpentry, from site prep and demo to finishing. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare job sites thoroughly before demolition work begins.
  • Perform demolition of interior and exterior wall and floor systems.
  • Read and interpret tape measurements and basic plans.
  • Maintain a well-equipped carpenter's tool belt and actively build your tool collection.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site each day.
  • Organize and stage building materials for efficient workflow.
  • Set up a plumb and level job site sign.
  • Anticipate the needs of the Lead Carpenter and team.
  • Stay current with industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of residential carpentry or construction experience
  • Must have basic tools and power tools to perform the job.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Physical ability to lift 100+ lbs, work on ladders, and stand for extended periods
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Able to interact and communicate well with your crew, subcontractors, and the client
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take direction
  • Punctual, loyal, and committed to safety; maintain a good personal appearance and develop positive habits.
  • Must reside in the East Bay area.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites; preferred truck with racks.
  • Clean DMV record (no more than one point) with no DUIs or Felony convictions.
  • Current auto insurance and vehicle registration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Experience in design-build or high-end residential remodeling.
  • Experience in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with building and construction codes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + performance bonuses or commission
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off (sick & vacation) and holidays
