Job description

Glenwood has an excellent opportunity to become a part of our staff as a Lifeguard.ย The Lifeguard will provide supervision, planning and delivery of activities to all of Glenwoodโ€™s waterfront areas that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the individuals' and staff's abilities.

Shift: Monday- Friday 10 am-3 pm (May- Aug)

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Waterfront areas include Glenwood (canoe/tubing) and the pool
  • Maintain all waterfront equipment
  • Assist in the implementation of staff training on waterfront safety and responsibilities
  • Evaluateย aquatic abilities of individuals and staff
  • Survey the waterfront daily and keep the areas free of hazards and debris
  • Participate enthusiastically in all program areas serving as a positive role model and mentor through your attitude and behavior
  • Create a fun and rewarding environment by maintaining the well-being and safety of the individuals and staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Outgoing, enthusiastic, and personable as to create an engaging atmosphereย 
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Must have the ability to observe individuals and staff behavior to assess appropriate behavior management techniques
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environment or hazard incidents
  • Demonstrate sound problem-solving techniques
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Certified Lifeguard (Providing Certification Training)
  • Must meet all background screens required by the agency, including but not limited to drug screen, AFI/FBI fingerprint, Child Abuse Neglect Registry, Term Track, Criminal Background, and required driving record.
