Loveland Transportation Class B CDL-(PS) Bus Drivers

Base Salary: $24.90/hr New Transportation Hiring Incentives Loveland City School District is launching an incentive program to help hire new bus drivers. The program includes paid training for new drivers and a referral bonus for current district employees who refer new drivers. New bus drivers will be paid for the time necessary to complete the required training and testing. The sum of $2,000 will be paid in 2 installments during their first year of employment. Additionally, every Loveland City School District employee is eligible for a $500 finder's fee for recommending a new bus driver for employment. The finder's fee would be paid six months after the new driver is Board approved as a District employee.

Districts around the region and across the country are dealing with a shortage of bus drivers. Loveland adjusted school start times for the 2022-23 school year to provide busing with fewer drivers. Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age Possess a valid Ohio driver's license Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements Excellent communications skills Able to work shifts assigned

Qualifications: Must have successful prior work experience. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide safe and timely transportation for school children attending Loveland City Schools by performing the following duties:

  1. Transport authorized students to and from school.
  2. Transport authorized students to and from extra-curricular activities as necessary.
  3. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  4. Obey all traffic laws.
  5. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
  6. Inspect bus before each operation for mechanical defects and after to ensure bus is empty.
  7. Report student misconduct to the proper authority.
  8. Keep assigned bus clean and report any mechanical problems to the transportation supervisor.
  9. Maintain an assigned schedule.
  10. Pick up and discharge students only at authorized stops.
  11. Report all accidents and complete required reports in a timely fashion.
  12. Post and enforce bus regulations such as smoking and eating bans.

  6. Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education.
  7. Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, and stoop.
  8. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  9. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes loud.
