Job description

O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT, is accepting applications for future Mechanic opportunities within our Repair Division. These opportunities may include Truck and Heavy Equipment Mechanic positions at our various repair facility locations, including Torrington, Southbury, Danbury, New Milford, Bridgeport, and Stamford. Applications submitted through this posting will be reviewed and kept on file for consideration as openings become available. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trucks and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Union membership is required at the time of hire or within the applicable application window.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, transmissions, steering, electrical systems, and other mechanical components
  • Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and paving equipment components
  • Remove and replace heavy equipment and truck components as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
  • Run diagnostic tests and interpret results accurately
  • Perform Federal Motor Carrier periodic inspections
  • Use power, machine, and hand tools safely
  • Follow all repair shop regulations, safety procedures, and standards

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience as a truck mechanic and/or heavy equipment mechanic

  • Proficient in equipment software diagnostics and repair based on manufacturer specifications
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, heavy equipment, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Experience repairing paving equipment is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic math skills
