Job description

Emergency Animal Hospital of Ellicott City (ECEAH) is seeking a full time or part time emergency veterinarian to join our team. ECEAH is one of the oldest emergency animal hospitals in the community. What really sets ECEAH apart is our people and our culture. The ideal candidate will possess excellent medical and surgical skills, be a team player and excellent communicator. S/he will want to be an integral part of our practice as we continue growing and evolving as a practice and a veterinarian team. Come join us!

Why ECEAH?

At Emergency Animal Hospital of Ellicott City, one of the region's most established emergency practices, the thing our team talks about most isn't the equipment or the caseload - it's the people. With 7 full-time veterinarians, ~30 support staff, and one of the lowest turnover rates you'll find in emergency medicine, we've built something genuinely rare: a team that likes coming to work.

Our doctors and technicians collaborate closely (4:1 tech-to-doctor ratio), support each other through complex cases, and share a commitment to doing right by every patient. New graduates receive real mentorship. Experienced clinicians find intellectual challenge and professional respect.

The Medicine

We handle a diverse caseload of small animals and exotics with a comprehensive in-house setup: digital radiology, in-house lab, ICU, Snyder ICU, isolation ward, diagnostic ultrasound,  and a full surgery suite, complete with a Force Triad vessel sealer and electrocautery unit. You'll have the tools to practice the medicine you were trained for.

The Practice

  • 24/7/365 emergency care, with a variety of shift configurations available
  • Quality leadership with a genuine focus on mentorship and professional growth

The Location

Ellicott City sits 30 minutes from Baltimore and an hour from D.C., with top-rated public schools, great dining, and easy access to state parks, mountains (3 hrs), and the beach (3 hrs). It's a great place to build a life outside of work too.

Hours/Schedule:

  • Variety of shift options. Contact us to learn more.
  • Full time and part time opportunities available
  • Hours of operation: Monday-Sunday 24/7/365 Including Holidays

Highlights:

  • Close knit, family oriented, skilled and experienced team of doctors that work collaboratively and enjoy coming to work
  • Large, skilled support staff that gets along and enjoys providing best medicine possible to clients and patients
  • Strong support from the practice's Regional Manager who obtained her CVPM in 2022
  • Quality management with strong mentorship for new graduates
  • Low turnover team that works and collaborates extremely well together
  • A diverse small animal and exotics caseload

Who we are looking for:

  • Full or part-time experienced Emergency Veterinarian
  • New graduates seeking mentorship and experienced veterinarians welcome
  • We welcome both new graduates seeking strong mentorship and experienced emergency clinicians ready to step into a thriving practice. The right fit is someone who's clinically sharp, communicates well, and genuinely wants to be part of a team - not just work alongside one.
  • Collaborative veterinarian who keeps up to date on new developments in veterinary medicine

What we offer:

  • Comprehensive Benefits (401k with generous employer contributions paid vacation/sick time, health, dental, vision, liability, 401K, life & supplemental insurance, license and professional dues coverage)
  • Continuing education allowance and full week of paid time off for continuing education
  • Additional internal continuing education (including wellness focused) opportunities
  • MentorVet in addition to on-site mentorship for new and recent graduates, or experienced general practice veterinarians
  • Relocation bonus

Why VetEvolve:

  • VetEvolve is a network of veterinary practices built to support the people delivering care and the practices they lead. We combine clinical insight with operational strength to give our teams the support, tools, and structure they need to thrive, without losing what makes each practice unique. We are intentionally focused on growth, not as an end in itself, but as a way to strengthen our practices, expand access to care, and create more opportunities for our teams. Guided by our values: Care First. Better Together. Grow Forward. Own It. We create an environment where veterinary professionals can do their best work, build meaningful careers, and deliver exceptional care. Growth with intention. Care without compromise.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an AVMA accredited university upon hire
  • Current DEA License or obtained upon hire
  • Active Veterinary State License upon hire
