Financial Valuation Intern information

What does a financial valuation intern do?

A Financial Valuation Intern supports valuation analysts and finance teams by assisting in the assessment of the value of companies, assets, or securities. Their tasks often include collecting and analyzing financial data, preparing financial models, and conducting industry research. Interns may also help draft valuation reports and presentations for internal and client use. This role provides hands-on experience in learning how investment decisions are made and how financial metrics are used to determine business worth.

What types of projects can a financial valuation intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Financial Valuation Intern, you will typically assist with projects such as valuing companies for mergers and acquisitions, conducting industry and market research, building financial models, and preparing valuation reports. You may also gain hands-on experience using valuation methodologies like discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions. Interns often work closely with analysts and associates, providing support on client deliverables and participating in team meetings, which offers valuable exposure to real-world valuation processes.

To thrive as a Financial Valuation Intern, you need strong analytical skills, a solid grasp of finance and accounting principles, and progress toward a relevant degree such as Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
