The pay for this position ranges from $115000- $125000.

The Systems Integration Engineer plays a key role in coordinating the design, integration, and continuous improvement of FuelCell Energyโ€™s commercial power plant systems. This position works across engineering disciplines and operational teams to ensure plant-level design changes, product enhancements, documentation, and corrective actions are technically sound, well-coordinated, and effectively implemented. The role requires a systems-oriented engineer who can connect detailed component-level work to broader plant performance, reliability, manufacturability, installation, commissioning, and service outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-functional engineering coordination for fuel cell power plant design changes, product enhancements, and new feature implementation.
  • Drive system-level design reviews, FMEAs, engineering change control, and configuration management to ensure robust, reliable plant designs.
  • Investigate fleet equipment and component performance issues and support practical corrective actions that improve reliability.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and configuration-controlled product documentation that supports manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and service.
  • Support cost reduction, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and ongoing operation of commercial fuel cell power plants.
  • Partner closely with R&D, operations, manufacturing, service, procurement, design, drafting, equipment, process, electrical, instrumentation, and piping engineering teams.
  • Bring a systems perspective to complex technical issues and help translate engineering decisions into successful plant-level outcomes.
Qualifications:

Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Electrical Engineering considered.

Experience: 3-7 years of progressive product design or sustaining engineering experience involving skidded or packaged mechanical process equipment.

The ideal candidate will bring:
  • Hands-on experience with high-temperature equipment, insulation design, basic piping design, and skidded or packaged mechanical process equipment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-discipline engineering and design teams while meeting demanding schedules.
  • Strong technical judgment, problem-solving ability, organization, communication, and follow-through.
  • Comfort working across internal teams, outside vendors, fabrication shops, and field stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with engineering change control, formal document management, P&IDs, piping isometrics, FMEA, reliability modeling, and value engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor a must. Familiarity with FEA, or CFD software is a plus.
  • Experience conducting hydraulic analysis and familiarity with PIPE-FLO required.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • ISO 9001 background, PE license, or knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and Piping Codes is a plus.

This role is primarily based in a professional office environment and includes collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, service, and field teams.

Occasional field work may include inspections, ladder climbing, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and light lifting.

Travel (domestic and international): 15%
