Job description

The Role

As a more Senior level Software Developer, you will be a member of our Trading Technology Department that consists of technologists across development, quality assurance and DevOps teams. We are a full-stack team providing all technology required by Financial Risk Management's global trading operations. These trading operations include the portfolio management, trading, and trade operations teams. Our systems include financial mathematics to calculate risk, order management and routing systems to send orders, market data, reporting, and trade reconciliation for a wide variety of financial instruments traded around the world. 

As a more Senior level Software Developer you will work with other developers on the team in the creation and support of trading, risk and back-office systems which are used on a global basis. 

Your Responsibilities:  

  • Create, maintain, and enhance systems to support our growing business. This includes both client and server-side software, database, and potentially intranet-based web development  
  • Take on responsibilities only limited by your abilities and work with a fair degree of independence
  • Work and communicate clearly with other technical and non-technical team members including traders

 Job Knowledge and Experience Required  

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree 
  • 4+ years of experience as a software developer working with C# required  
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or other Windows-supported databases
  • Proven experience developing, testing, and deploying applications within a Windows-based environment 
  • Experience integrating with one or more cloud vendors (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and critical thought    
  • Ability to take on projects and operate with minimal oversight  
  • Willingness to own products and take responsibility for their support  
  • Strong communication skills  

 Additional Experience and Knowledge a plus 

  • Experience with financial markets, mutual funds, portfolio management, and derivatives    
  • Knowledge of Git source control system
  • Experience coding complex projects in VBA  
  • Understanding of SDLC    
  • Source control systems and branching patterns   
  • Multithreaded programming  

Location 

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago, IL on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered. The expected application deadline for this job is July 17, 2026.  

Compensation 

The overall range for this role is $107,755 - $177,675. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
