Job description

At Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America (MBRDNA), we are committed to delivering world-class automotive technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible. Join us and gain hands-on experience solving real-world problems at the intersection of cloud-native architecture, software development, and innovation. We're looking for a sharp, motivated, and curious Software Developer Intern who's excited to learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.
This internship may commence at any point during the summer, beginning July 6, with at least a 3 month commitment.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend services
  • Work closely with senior engineers to build and optimize microservices using Go
  • Package and manage services using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Work with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and engineering discussions
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Learn, adapt, and make meaningful contributions from Day 1

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Senior or graduate student in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
  • High school diploma
  • Previous internship or work experience in a software development role
  • Proficiency in Go programming
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with both relational and non-relational databases
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work at a desk using a computer for extended periods
  • Occasional participation in team meetings, both in-person and virtual
  • No significant physical demands

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Personal side projects or GitHub portfolio
  • Previous internship or work experience in a software development role

The current hourly rate for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $28 (Undergraduate Students)/$32 (Graduate Students)
