POSITION SUMMARY

EMD Sales Inc. seeks an experienced Financial Controller to lead and manage all accounting and financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to provide financial insight that supports executive decision-making. This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role that requires a professional committed to financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency and excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations Management

  • Oversee all accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Payroll, and General Ledger
  • Manage and streamline the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare, analyze, and publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all other applicable regulatory standards
  • Present financial reports and performance analyses to executive leadership
  • Monitor financial performance and identify trends and risks
  • Leverage accounting software to evaluate financial results, including product and customer profitability
  • Collaborate with department leaders to control costs and improve profitability

Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Develop and maintain strong internal control systems
  • Implement policies and procedures to reduce financial risk and prevent fraud and waste
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with company policies

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting
  • Monitor variances between projected and actual results and provide corrective recommendations

Compliance & Audit

  • Oversee tax compliance and ensure timely filing of income and payroll taxes
  • Coordinate and manage external audits
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial regulations
  • Prepare and manage bank-mandated reporting

Strategic Advisory & External Relations

  • Serve as a key financial advisor to the our senior leadership team
  • Work closely with outside professional advisors including auditors and financial consultants
  • Provide financial modeling, scenario planning, and strategic analyses
  • Support long-term growth initiatives through financial insight and data-driven recommendations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree or Higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Experience managing full-cycle accounting operations
  • Wholesale or distribution industry experience, preferably in food/grocery or related industries
  • Proven leadership and management experience
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
