Senior Financial Accountant (Contract)

Are you a CPA-designated accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-18 month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on delivering accurate financial reporting, improving processes, and partnering with teams across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reporting while supporting the broader finance team with year-end activities, compliance, and ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing working papers, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and posting journal entries
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and file regulatory returns, including GST/HST, WCB, royalties, and other required filings
  • Maintain customer and vendor records and related financial information
  • Support the year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors
  • Contribute to finance initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Provide support across the finance department as needed
What We're Looking For
  • CPA designation (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, including purchasing and billing
  • Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is considered an asset
  • Experience in the mining or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
