Paraplanner / Financial Planning Specialist
Location: Carlsbad, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Compensation: $25–$28/hour
Position Overview

A growing wealth management firm in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paraplanner / Financial Planning Specialist to support its Financial Advisors throughout the financial planning and client service process.

This position plays an important role in preparing financial plans, organizing client data, coordinating meeting materials, and supporting the implementation of advisor recommendations.

The ideal candidate has experience within financial planning, wealth management, or an RIA environment and enjoys the analytical and operational side of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to deepen their financial planning experience and potentially pursue a CFP® designation or Associate Advisor career path.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare materials for strategic planning, plan presentation, and implementation meetings
  • Gather, review, and organize client financial information and supporting documentation
  • Maintain accurate client data within CRM and financial planning systems
  • Assist with financial planning scenarios, projections, and draft financial plans
  • Prepare meeting agendas, reports, and supporting planning materials for Financial Advisors
  • Assist with investment allocation analysis and planning recommendations
  • Maintain organized and accurate digital client files
  • Update client records, meeting information, and financial data within the CRM
  • Prepare paperwork for account openings, transfers, and other implementation activities
  • Track outstanding implementation tasks and client follow-up items
  • Assist with new client onboarding
  • Coordinate documentation with custodians, advisors, and internal team members
  • Ensure client documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant
  • Anticipate advisor needs and help keep client planning workflows ahead of schedule

Requirements

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or financial advisory support
  • Experience supporting Financial Advisors or a wealth management team
  • Strong organizational and workflow management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with confidential client and financial information

Preferred:

  • Experience within a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) environment
  • Experience with financial planning software such as eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, or RightCapital
  • Experience with Redtail CRM
  • Series 65 or willingness to obtain
  • CFP® coursework or interest in pursuing the CFP® designation
