Job description

Position Summary:

The Catholic Diocese of Raleigh has an immediate need for a Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis. Operating as a critical bridge between financial data and diocesan strategy, this hands-on role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager provides high-level financial counsel to executive leadership while providing day-to-day direction and oversight for assigned staff.

The ideal candidate is a proactive finance leader who balances meticulous, hands-on mastery of driver-based forecasting and data modeling with the communication style needed to brief executive leadership boards and diocesan committees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership to translate complex financial data into strategic insights; prepare high-quality presentations, dashboards, and reports for Executive Staff, the Diocesan Finance Council and investment committee.
  • Provide leadership, workflow management, performance evaluations, and professional development for assigned finance staff, fostering growth and ensuring high accuracy and consistency across all departmental deliverables.
  • Design, build, maintain, and scale sophisticated financial models to support long-term forecasting, cash flow analysis, capital allocation, and investment tracking.
  • Drive the execution of the annual operating and capital budgeting processes across all diocesan departments, establishing standardized processes, templates, and compliance timelines.
  • Support treasury and investment activities, including cash positioning, liquidity forecasting, banking relationships, investment reporting, and coordination with external advisors and diocesan investment committees.
  • Assist with accounting close activities, including reviewing accruals, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and collaborating with accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to Diocesan budget holders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or public accounting.
  • Experience with treasury operations, cash management, investment reporting, or related banking and investment oversight activities.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience directly supervising, managing, or acting as a formal team lead for finance/accounting personnel.
  • Advanced, hands-on expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial engineering and accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to present financial findings clearly and confidently to non-financial executive stakeholders and ministry leaders.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or progress toward a professional finance designation (FPAC/CFA).
  • Experience utilizing AI and BI tools to build executive dashboards.
  • Experience implementing, administering, or optimizing dedicated budgeting and forecasting software modules.
  • Prior professional experience within a non-profit, faith-based, or multi-entity fund accounting environment.

Benefits: In addition to a competitive salary, the diocese provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, PTO, and a generous 403(b) plan. About - https://dioceseofraleigh.org/about/diocese
