Position Overview

WEConnect International is seeking a highly organized and analytically minded Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for an accountant with 2–5 years of experience who enjoys both operational accounting responsibilities and financial problem solving.

As the primary accounting professional supporting the organization’s finance function, this individual will help ensure accurate financial records, maintain strong internal controls, reconcile financial transactions, and support financial reporting and compliance activities.

This role provides exposure to the full accounting cycle within a mission-driven global nonprofit organization.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

· Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

· Prepare and issue membership invoices

· Review and process vendor and subcontractor invoices

· Prepare payment requests and disbursements for approval

· Manage purchase order and purchasing processes

· Track and manage petty cash and small purchases

Financial Reconciliation & Investigation

· Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment systems

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records and transactions

· Review documentation and supporting records to ensure financial accuracy

· Ensure transactions are properly coded and recorded in the accounting system

Financial Reporting & Compliance

· Maintain accounting records within QuickBooks

· Assist with month-end close activities

· Support preparation of documentation for the annual audit

· Assist with preparation of Form 990 documentation

· Prepare and submit annual 1099 forms

Financial Support & Communication

· Respond to vendor and customer accounting inquiries

· Provide internal teams with support related to invoices, payments, and financial questions

· Maintain strong internal control practices to safeguard organizational assets

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, accounting workflows, and internal control procedures.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

· 2–5 years of professional accounting experience

· Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations

· Strong understanding of GAAP principles

· Proficiency in Excel

· Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with leadership

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with nonprofit accounting

· Experience with Bill.com or similar payables platforms

· Experience supporting financial audits
