Job description

Mission Summary:
We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team at Motional. Headquartered in Boston, our team is transforming mobility by developing and deploying Level 4 autonomous vehicles at scale.

As a Financial Analyst on the Strategic Finance team, you will have a high-visibility role bridging critical financial modeling and operational decision making. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Finance, you will provide key insights and actionable financial analysis to evaluate new initiatives, shape long-term strategy, and optimize company resources.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and maintain Motional's comprehensive long-range financial models to support strategic decision making, capital allocation, and executive scenario planning
  • Collaborate directly with Operations teams to refine revenue forecasting, commercial deployment expenses, and vehicle operating assumptions
  • Extract strategic insights through quantitative data analysis, unit economic modeling, and competitive benchmarking
  • Partner with stakeholders across Corporate Strategy, Commercial, Engineering, and Operations on cross functional and ad-hoc projects
  • Prepare slides and assist in presenting findings to key stakeholders including Motional's leadership team

What we're looking for: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, economics, or another related field
  • 3+ years professional experience beyond academic career in related field
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, including the ability to build complex financial models and perform scenario analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities

Bonus points (not required): 

  • CFA or MBA (or progress towards)
  • Experience in data analytics and/or executive dashboard creation (Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with valuation methodologies and general valuation concepts
  • Familiarity with the automotive or mobility industry
