Interns assist with tasks like budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and sometimes supporting investment or accounting teams. This internship is designed to help individuals gain practical skills, understand financial processes, and explore career paths in finance or accounting. It often serves as a stepping stone to full-time roles in financial management after graduation.

Job description

Business Operations Internship Paid | Anderson Sport & Wellness | Newport Beach, CA

$20/hour with performance-based increases because we reward people who raise the bar | 1529 hours/week | On-Site | Rolling Start Dates

This Isn't a Typical Internship

Most internships have you watching from the sidelines. This one puts you in the game.

At Anderson Sport & Wellness, we're a premier physical therapy and wellness clinic in Newport Beach specializing in orthopedic manual therapy, chronic pain relief, sports recovery, and personalized wellness services including the MELT Method, Wellness Tech, and Massage. We run a fast-moving, client-centered practice and we need someone sharp enough to help us run it well.

This is a paid, hands-on internship designed for a talented, ambitious student who wants real responsibility, real mentorship, and a real line on their resume that actually means something.

What You'll Own

This role is operational and team-oriented. You'll be responsible for leading your team to keep the front office running smoothly every single day coordinating with the people around you to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. That means:

  • Client Scheduling Ensuring every patient is scheduled according to their Plan of Care with zero double bookings
  • Client Inquiries Responding to all incoming inquiries within 24 hours, every time, no exceptions
  • Patient Check-Out Managing our detailed check-out process accurately and completely for every patient visit
  • Document Management Scanning and filing all patient documents into the correct charts, same day
  • Financial Tracking Updating our revenue dashboard daily with accurate figures
  • Wellness Tech Setup Coordinating and setting up modality sessions for our wellness technology services (typically 34 per day) on time and to standard

These aren't tasks you'll do occasionally. These are the heartbeat of the clinic and you'll be the person making sure that heartbeat doesn't skip.

Your Team & How You'll Lead It

You won't be working alone you'll be mentored in managing a real team from day one.

You'll work alongside our Operations Manager and Front Desk Assistant, both of whom are experienced, supportive, and genuinely invested in your success. But here's what makes this different from most team environments: they're here to help you lead, not to lead for you.

Our internship is intentionally structured so that you are in the driver's seat. Your teammates will follow your lead on daily operations and when they notice you're stretched thin or about to miss something important, they won't just fix it for you. They'll ask you one simple question: "What's your plan?"

That's not pressure that's how real leaders are built.

By the end of this internship you'll have developed:

  • Time management under real operational pressure not a classroom simulation
  • Team coordination skills learning how to delegate, communicate, and keep people aligned
  • Leadership confidence the ability to own a room, a process, and an outcome
  • Problem-solving in the moment because in a busy clinic, things don't always go to plan

If you've ever wanted to know what it feels like to actually run something this is it.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

You'll work directly with the owner. Daily check-ins and bi-weekly one-on-one coaching sessions focused on business operations and entrepreneurship are built into this internship. You won't be handed off to a mid-level manager you'll have direct access to a practicing clinician and entrepreneur who has built something real.

You'll see how a growth-focused clinic actually operates. Our owner is currently launching a nonprofit organization to provide financial assistance to patients whose care isn't covered by insurance and is also developing a medical device with plans to bring it to market in the near future. High-performing interns may be invited to assist with one or both of these projects. This is not guaranteed it's earned. But for the right person, it's an extraordinary opportunity to gain exposure to entrepreneurship, healthcare innovation, and mission-driven business at a level most students never see.

You'll have a custom learning track. Choose your focus business operations or entrepreneurship with training resources, videos, and a capstone project you'll be proud to present in any interview room.

High performers get hired. We have a track record of bringing exceptional interns onto the team in paid roles after the internship concludes. We look for people who raise the bar and we reward them for it.

Who We're Looking For

You're currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Business Administration or a related field ideally graduating in 2026 or 2027. But more than your degree, we're looking for someone who is:

  • Detail-obsessed. In this role, the details are everything. A missed document or an incorrectly scheduled patient creates real problems for real people.
  • Proactive, not reactive. You spot problems before they happen and bring solutions, not just observations.
  • A strong communicator. You write clearly, speak confidently, and follow up without being asked.
  • A natural team player with leadership instincts. You know how to work with people and you're not afraid to take ownership when it matters.
  • Comfortable with technology. Google Workspace and Microsoft Office are the baseline. Experience with CRM tools, scheduling software, or social media is a bonus.
  • Genuinely positive. Our team culture is built on respect, energy, and care for our patients and for each other. If you bring that naturally, you'll fit right in.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

Required: At least one previous job any job. We want to know you've shown up for something, performed under pressure, and earned someone's trust before.

The Details

  • Pay: $20/hour with performance-based increases because we reward people who raise the bar
  • Hours: 1529 hours/week
  • Length: 12-week internship with potential to convert to a paid role
  • Location: On-site, Newport Beach, CA
  • Start: Rolling positions available now
