Job description

Lynch Consultants is seeking a Senior Financial Statement Consultant to support the Department of the Navy (DON) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC). We are recruiting mid‑career Financial Associates to provide functional accounting support across high‑impact DON and USMC financial management operations. This role is best suited for candidates with experience in Annual Financial Report (AFR) preparation and auditing, DFAS, Journal Voucher (JV) reviews, financial reporting, and financial statement crosswalks. Ideal candidates will demonstrate subject‑matter expertise in Department of War (DoW) and federal accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to assess, reconcile, and validate financial data in alignment with DoW, DON, and USMC Financial Management Regulations. Only applicants who fully satisfy all required qualifications will be considered for further review.   
 
 Salary: $89,000 - $130,000/yr commensurate with experience.    Work Location and Schedule:  * Hybrid Schedule: Team members are expected to work one (2) days onsite in Alexandria, VA with three (3) days remote (WFH). Work location status can change at any time due to project demands.  Required Qualifications – Must Have: * MUST have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a Business Management-related field.  * MUST have at least 6 – 10+ years of federal accounting or financial management experience.  * MUST have proficiency in preparing Annual Financial Reports (AFRs), Reviewing Journal Vouchers (JVs), Financial Reporting, Financial Statement Crosswalks, and experience working at or with DFAS. * MUST have proficiency with DoW financial systems (e.g., N-ERP, DAI) and data analytics platforms (e.g., Advana, Jupiter). * MUST have an active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one. * MUST be a US Citizen.  * MUST be located in the National Capital Region (DC, Virginia, Maryland).  * MUST have one of the following professional certifications or the ability to obtain one within 6-months of being hired: CPA, CISA, CGFM, CDFM.  Preferred Qualifications:
  * DoW, DON, or USMC experience in federal financial management, accounting, or audit readiness. Experience with N-ERP or DAI.  Skills & Duties: * Ability to review and verify financial documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with DoW, DON and USMC Financial Management Regulations.  * Experienced reconciling data across financial systems, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions.  * Skilled in performing audit sample selection, review, and follow-up to support audit readiness and remediation.  * Proven ability to conduct compliance reviews, prepare findings reports, and recommend policy or process improvements.  * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to present findings to senior stakeholders.  If you are a highly motivated individual with the ability to solve complex issues, take on new responsibilities, build relationships and think in unique and innovative ways, we are looking for you!     Why Join LC?      At Lynch Consultants (LC), your career growth is unlimited.
