Principal Finance Data Engineer - Business Intelligence & Finance Reporting

JOB SUMMARY

Partners closely with Finance leadership and stakeholders to develop, maintain, and enhance business intelligence solutions that support financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, management reporting, profitability analysis, and executive decision-making. Leads efforts to standardize financial data definitions, improve data quality, strengthen reporting controls, and deliver consistent, reliable financial analytics across the organization. Responsible for designing and maintaining critical finance dashboards, reports, and data models while ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance standards and finance reporting requirements. Serves as a key resource in transforming complex financial and business requirements into actionable insights through modern business intelligence tools and reporting platforms.

 

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Design, develop, and maintain finance dashboards, scorecards, and reporting solutions supporting FP&A, accounting, cost controlling, revenue, margin, and profitability analysis.
  • Partner with Finance leaders and business stakeholders to understand financial reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights that support planning, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Create and maintain standardized financial KPI definitions, reporting methodologies, and business rules to ensure consistency across Finance reporting processes.
  • Support month-end close, forecast cycles, annual budgeting, variance analysis, and management reporting through automated and controlled reporting solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Finance reporting efficiency, reduce manual data preparation, and strengthen accuracy, transparency, and auditability of financial information.

 

Data Standardization & Governance

  • Support Finance data governance initiatives by establishing and maintaining financial data standards, business rules, account hierarchies, cost center structures, and metric definitions.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT, and data teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reconciliation of financial data across reporting platforms.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a centralized finance reporting and analytics environment that supports standardized corporate reporting.
  • Monitor and improve financial data quality through validation, reconciliation, exception reporting, and governance processes.

 

Data Management & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain data models, datasets, and reporting structures that support enterprise reporting requirements.
  • Work with IT and data engineering teams to support data integration, transformation, and automation efforts.
  • Analyze financial performance trends, variances, cost drivers, profitability, and business results to provide recommendations that improve financial outcomes.
  • Support the development and maintenance of finance data marts, reporting environments, and cloud-based analytics platforms that enable scalable financial reporting.

 

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a subject matter expert for business intelligence, reporting, and data management best practices.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, IT, and cross-functional teams to prioritize reporting initiatives and enhancements.
  • Communicate financial insights, reporting outcomes, and recommendations to Finance leadership, management, and business stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics and/or related field; equivalent education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Information Systems and/or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience in finance business intelligence, financial reporting, FP&A analytics, data management, or related fields.
  • Experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using modern BI tools.
  • Experience working with ERP, enterprise finance data, financial hierarchies, master data, and data governance processes.
  • Experience in corporate finance, manufacturing finance, cost accounting, or regulated industries preferred.

 

Skills

 

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Advanced experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI and visualization platforms.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting concepts, FP&A processes, accounting structures, KPIs, variance analysis, and

performance metrics.

  • Ability to gather Finance requirements and translate them into reporting, analytics, and decision-support solutions.
  • Experience creating executive-level finance dashboards, management reporting packages, and performance reporting.

Data Management

  • Working knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Databricks or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and enterprise data structures.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.

  • Ability to work effectively with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, IT, and business teams.

Target Pay Range:  $138,500.00 to $173,100.00  -  Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:  10.0%
