Job description

Location: Houston, TX (hybrid) 3 days onsite regularly and 5 days onsite during go-live

seeking a hands-on Data Architect / Sr. Data Engineer with very strong expertise in SQL, Snowflake, and DBT to support a high-visibility financial analytics project. The role requires both architectural thinking and deep technical execution designing and coding data models, building pipelines, and optimizing performance in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Architect, design, and implement scalable data solutions leveraging Snowflake and DBT.
  2. Develop and optimize SQL queries, data models, and transformation pipelines.
  3. Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to translate requirements into efficient data solutions.
  4. Implement best practices for data governance, quality, security, and compliance.
  5. Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance data pipelines for performance and reliability.
  6. Drive automation and CI/CD practices within the data engineering ecosystem.
  7. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers where needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  1. 10+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture roles.
  2. Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake (data modeling, performance optimization, security, and integration).
  3. Proficiency in DBT for transformation and workflow management.
  4. Advanced knowledge of SQL (query optimization, complex joins, window functions, CTEs).
  5. Experience in data pipeline orchestration and integration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, or similar).
  6. Solid understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns, data warehousing concepts, and modern data architectures.
  7. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
