Job description

About the Role

The Director of Finance at Crescent Hotels & Resorts will lead financial operations for the hotel, providing strategic guidance to management and maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting. The role focuses on profitability, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and capital planning to safeguard owners' assets.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the financial impact on business decisions.
  • Notify management promptly of any financial deviations from established policies and/or control weaknesses.
  • Manage and communicate cashโ€‘flow issues; prepare accurate and timely cashโ€‘flow statements, manage receivables and deposits.
  • Monitor revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording per Crescent Hotels & Resorts guidelines; investigate budget variances and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Assist in capitalโ€‘planning calculations, bid monitoring, and evaluation of scope and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance on all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and operational taxes.
  • Coordinate forecasts and budgets with the management team.
  • Analyze financial data to advise management on achieving financial objectives.
  • Reconcile all balanceโ€‘sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
  • Establish and audit internal financial controls covering purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit, inventories, assets, payroll, and employee records.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, coach, counsel, and discipline finance staff, fostering growth and preparing future leaders.
  • Maintain compliance with Crescent Hotels & Resorts standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operation.
  • Oversee IT system utilization, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Prepare and submit all financial reports in accordance with CHR requirements and meet due dates.
  • Review and submit the Daily Revenue Report.
  • Ensure timely deposit of all cash and transmission of credit card receipts.
  • Analyze Labor reports for overtime and variance to forecast.
  • Review departmental checkbooks and advise on necessary changes.
  • Distribute and discuss weekly G/L reports with department managers.
  • Update GM on any unfavorable financial issues impacting the month.
  • Ensure sufficient cash to meet scheduled obligations.
  • Reconcile balance sheet with proper backup.
  • Count banks and main vault.
  • Review the Key Financial Controls checklist for compliance.
  • Compare actual numbers to forecast to improve future forecasting accuracy.
  • Participate in monthly Credit meetings.
  • Complete and review forecasts with Department Heads before submission.
  • Perform any other jobโ€‘related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum four years' experience as a Hotel Director of Finance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in P&L composition, forecast accuracy, budgeting, cash management, and overall financial management.
  • Prior experience with Marriott systems preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Selfโ€‘starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and making sound decisions.
