Job description

HHM Talent is assisting a client in their search for an Automotive Controller to oversee accounting operations across two rooftops in South Charlotte.


Position Overview

This position will lead the day-to-day accounting function for two dealerships with a combined volume of approximately 150 units per month. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical accounting strength and the ability to mentor and develop an existing team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations for two dealership locations
  • Manage and review month-end close, with a target of completing within 5 days
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements and compliance with dealership accounting standards
  • Supervise a team of 5 including biller, title clerk, AP, cashier, and receptionist
  • Train, mentor, and develop current staff to improve performance and efficiency
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and processes
  • Partner with dealership leadership and the Regional Controller on financial performance and reporting
  • Opportunity to step into a stable team and focus on development rather than hiring

Qualifications

  • Prior automotive Controller or Assistant Controller experience required
  • CDK DMS experience preferred, not required
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor accounting staff
  • Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and close process
