Job description

Location: This position is based onsite at our Production Facility in South Windsor, CT.
Please note: This role requires hands-on Cost Accounting experience within a full production manufacturing environment.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The Plant Controller, Operations Finance will be responsible for all aspects of supply chain & plant controllership functions. This includes operational metrics, cost accounting, logistics, maintenance, expense, and inventory cost control in our CT facility. This leader will be responsible for standing up the financials for the CT plant, support senior management and operations with analysis and financial information and act upon analysis to maintain high quality standards and improve upon operational efficiencies, policies, and procedures in place. The successful employee will provide leadership in the development of policies, systems, inventory management, internal controls and all manufacturing accounting and financial procedures. This individual will be an active member of the Leadership Team and must bring a broad-based business acumen to their role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In support of setting up the new facility:
  • Develop initial budgets, financial forecasts, and capital expenditure plans for the new plant.
  • Implement cost control measures and monitor expenses to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Establish and configure accounting systems and processes tailored for the new plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards relevant to the plant's operations.
  • Create reporting structures for financial and operational performance to provide insights to management.
  • Train finance staff and key personnel on new systems and processes to ensure smooth operations.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to monitor plant performance and drive continuous improvement

Day-To-Day responsibilities:
  • Supervise and develop a team of cost analysts and factory accountants
  • Prepare monthly operational metrics and presents findings and recommendations to senior management and operations. Drives best in class practices across manufacturing
  • Establish and maintain the plant's manufacturing accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives
  • Analyze manufacturing trends, costs, and budgets
  • Drive continuous cost savings initiatives across the manufacturing operation
  • Work closely with the supply chain team to achieve business objectives through efficient cost control
  • Identify, develop, and implement progressive accounting methodology that drives prompt and robust decision-making
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, including direct labor, and variable labor and fixed overhead reports
  • Develop, maintain, and perform effective audits and internal control procedures, including physical inventory at year end
  • Oversee a multi-million-dollar capital projects budget, including strategic planning and forecasts
  • Act as a key financial resource for COO and his team, including integral involvement in operations strategy, capital project planning, and budgeting
  • Actively seek to identify and activate local, state, and national incentives to support overall operational efficiency
  • Lead the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Step III meeting, bringing key business performance insights to the operations & supply chain teams
  • Act as a member of the Leadership Team for the Plant
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business required
  • MBA or CPA preferred
  • 7+ Years of financial experience required
  • Knowledge of Cost Accounting principles required
  • Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Understands ERP systems and capable of leveraging this tool to drive cost transparency, bonus experience with D365 or AX2012
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Creative leader with broad vision
  • Skilled in using mainframe, spreadsheet, database, or other software
