Department Overview: 

Financial Control team sits within the Finance department in the Americas.

Role Description:

Nomura's Finance Control team, in the Americas, is looking for a Vice President to join the team. The candidate will focus on technical accounting matters for new products, and transactions. The role will support technical aspects of Financial Reporting and discussing technical matters with external audit teams. The ideal candidate should have strong understanding of US GAAP reporting for a Broker Dealer coupled with an understanding of risks & controls within the financial services sector. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual with a track record of working in a high volume and results oriented environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to drive meaningful change and contribute to initiatives that are of high importance to Nomura's Management team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day financial and accounting advisory on new products and transactions
  • Participate in discussions with external auditors and consultants
  • Continue the implementation of financial and accounting best practices
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned supporting Nomura Asset Management International new products

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Services organization in a Finance or Accounting role
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from accredited college/university
  • Strong accounting technical skills
  • Experience in Asset Management is highly preferred
  • Ability to research US GAAP independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent analytics, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Enthusiasm for both quantitative-driven and qualitative-focused situations
  • Advanced in MS Office particularly in Excel
  • Data Visualization tools are a plus
