Job description

Talint's client, a management consulting firm providing innovative solutions and best practices to government organizations, is a fast growing, employee focused company.  Our client recently received the Best Places to Work in Greater Washington by the #WashingtonBusinessJournal.


Our client is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the United States Coast Guard. The right candidate will have 3+ years of professional experience in federal financial management, accounting, audit readiness, financial reporting operations, reconciliations, and financial analysis within the federal environment. This onsite role in Chesapeake, VA requires an active DoD or DHS Clearance.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Active DoD or DHS Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 3+ years supporting federal financial management, financial reporting, audit readiness, and reconciliation activities
  • Experience with financial statement reconciliation or accounting close in a federal environment is required
  • Experience supporting DHS and/or USCG financial reporting environments, preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivots, formulas, lookups, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform reconciliations and analysis supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual DHS financial reporting deliverables
  • Investigate abnormal balances, general ledger discrepancies, and tie-point variances
  • Prepare manual journal vouchers, topside adjustments, and audit-ready reconciliation packages
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, desk guides, workpapers, and supporting documentation
  • Support audit readiness, remediation activities, and responses to audit requests
  • Assist with workflow optimization, reporting automation, dashboards, and recurring deadline management
