Job description

The HQ Financial Specialist provides travel, payroll, financial administration, reporting, records management, and customer support services to OST Headquarters. This position supports mission-critical operations by ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of travel and timekeeping programs while providing exceptional customer service to federal employees and leadership. The HQ Financial Specialist works closely with the Lead Financial Specialist and federal personnel to support travel and payroll operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Travel Administration: Process travel authorizations and vouchers, provide customer support, resolve discrepancies, monitor compliance, and assist with travel-related reporting.
  • Payroll and Timekeeping Support: Process and maintain T&A records, validate timecards, coordinate corrections, maintain audit-ready files, support onboarding/offboarding, and assist employees with payroll procedures.
  • Reporting and Data Management: Compile and analyze payroll and travel data, generate reports, track discrepancies, and maintain databases and tracking tools.
  • Records Management and Compliance: Maintain records in accordance with DOE, NNSA, and OST requirements and safeguard sensitive information.
  • Customer Service: Respond to payroll, travel, and timekeeping inquiries and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Program Support: Participate in audits, assessments, special projects, and provide backup support as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience supporting travel administration, payroll processing, and timekeeping.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience supporting a Federal Government agency.
  • Experience with ATAAPS, Concur Government Edition, SharePoint, STARS, and Workday.
  • Knowledge of Federal Travel Regulations and payroll administration processes.

Location: This is a full-time onsite position in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Pay Rate: Pay Rate is determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate's related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
