Job description

Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
The company's Financial Services team is looking for a driven, self-starting, detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to support our Engineering organization. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive forecasting and analytical approaches in line with Engineering's objectives. The role will support the development and modification of financial practices and procedures, ensuring that financial activities are successfully implemented, support overall company objectives and required regulatory standards, and drive improved efficiency.
This position will operate as a key business partner and trusted advisor to the GA-ASI Engineering leadership team and GA-ASI finance leadership team. The Senior Financial Analyst will promptly respond to inquiries, identify business issues, and support the development of innovative solutions to complex and diverse challenges involving a variety of financial data - some of which contains confidential and sensitive information requiring tact and discretion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a business partner to the Engineering leadership team by providing guidance and insight into financial decisions.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, and other functions to help ensure efficient business processes, strong operational results, and profitability of the company - reviewing and constructively challenging peers when necessary.
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead Engineering finance processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly performance reviews.
  • Support oversight of key financial metrics relevant to Engineering, including but not limited to engineering labor utilization, indirect rates, overhead, IRAD and Bid and Proposal.
  • Lead budgeting activities for the development of annual operating plans, forward pricing rate proposals, monthly estimates-at-complete, and quarterly forecasts for Engineering.
  • Provide timely, relevant, and accurate reporting and analysis of Engineering and related company performance against historical, budgeted, forecasted, and strategic planning results to facilitate decision-making toward achievement of the budget and long-range strategic plan.
  • Prepare and support executive-level presentations, including financial reports, charts, tables, and other exhibits, and support business partners with ad-hoc analysis and reporting.
  • Monitor and help update controls and procedures to ensure quality and reliability of financial information and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and accounting practices while maintaining the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and/or finance and ten or more years of progressive professional cost accounting experience in a corporate environment, preferably with a government contractor. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must be customer focused - strong leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including senior leaders and senior external parties on finance matters.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present accounting and finance findings.
  • Experience in organizational and operational problem resolution and the ability to interpret and explain complex financial issues.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office - especially Excel and PowerPoint (including complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization, and presentation development).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential.
  • Experience building and maintaining financial data models to support Engineering forecasts, headcount planning, investment cases, and rate analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex scenario and sensitivity analysis (e.g., rate changes, staffing plans, funding profiles, make/buy decisions, and schedule changes) and clearly communicate the financial impact to stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP (or similar ERP system) for reporting, cost analysis, and forecasting; ability to extract, reconcile, and structure large data sets for analysis.
