Position Compensation Range:
$80,000.00 - $131,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
The Senior Financial Analyst works within Expense Management FP&A and supports expense management through planning, forecasting, and analysis, and by providing decision support to business partners and leadership. You will deliver clear insights on expense performance, drivers, and outlook, and help strengthen financial discipline through effective reporting, routines, and communication. You will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis supporting Claims & Legal Division expense management.
In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from either Madison, WI 53783 or Boston, MA 02110

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will lead expense planning and forecasting activities for assigned business partners, including assumptions, risks/opportunities, and alignment to targets.
  • You will deliver recurring monthly expense performance reporting (actuals vs plan/forecast), including variance drivers, trend analysis, and outlook updates.
  • You will provide business partner decision support: scenario analysis, trade-off recommendations, and financial impacts for initiatives.
  • You will build and maintain expense models (e.g., run-rate, workforce, vendor, initiative-based) to improve forecast accuracy and transparency.
  • You will prepare and present expense and performance insights to divisional leadership; occasionally support executive-level materials.
  • You will collaborate with leaders to define and monitor expense KPIs/metrics and identify opportunities to improve business results.
  • You will improve FP&A processes through stronger data management, reporting automation/standardization, and scalable routines that reduce manual effort.
  • You will serve as a finance representative on cross-functional teams, ensuring financial implications are understood and reflected in decisions.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
  • Insurance Accounting Operations experience
  • Anaplan, Hyperion or similar budget system experience
  • GCP, Tableau, Excel and/or other similar analytical tools
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
  • Demonstrated experience in financial statement and management reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex financial and operational analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of forecasting techniques, statistical analysis, data modeling, and data mining.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of insurance accounting and operations
  • Travel requirements up to 5%.
