Job description

Role Summary

As a Financial Analyst at Valerian Capital, you will play a crucial role in supporting collateral administration and structured financing programs. This fully remote position requires excellence in financial modeling, data management, and client-facing reporting while maintaining availability during US business hours.

Valerian Capital is a financial markets advisory firm specializing in structured financing solutions and risk management expertise. We provide comprehensive collateral administration services including daily margin reporting, model creation, compliance testing, and ongoing support for active deals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Publish daily reports for clients and internal stakeholders with accuracy and timeliness
  2. Track transactions made throughout the day via email and incorporate them into next-day reporting
  3. Continuously improve tools and processes used to produce and publish reports
  4. Review and provide feedback on transaction-related documents such as collateral guidelines

Required Qualifications

Hard Skills:

  1. Ability to design, build, and maintain complex, robust financial models in Excel from scratch, emphasizing clean logic, scalability, and error-checking
  2. Mastery of dynamic arrays, nested lookups (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), and logical functions to analyze large datasets without compromising spreadsheet performance
  3. Knowledgeable in using VBA/Macros to automate repetitive tasks and transform raw data exports into structured reporting formats
  4. General understanding of fixed income markets and how fixed income securities work

Preferred Qualifications

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  1. Working knowledge of Python and C#
  2. Familiarity with leveraging AI tools to accelerate code writing, troubleshoot formulas, or streamline workflows

Soft Skills

  1. Capable of anticipating customer needs and ensuring high-quality, reliable support for clients and stakeholders
  2. Able to work independently and carry a project from start to finish
  3. Comfortable juggling varied, changing tasks in a small team with dynamic workflow
  4. Available during US business hours and comfortable with early starts to meet daily reporting deadlines
