Job description

Welty Energy & Infrastructure (WE&I) is looking for a Financial Analyst to join our growing Financial Analyst team!

Who is Welty Energy?

Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty Enterprises, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, distribution engineering, substation engineering and construction oversight on transmission, substation and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV.

Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S.

Welty Energy is looking to add a Financial Analyst that contributes to successful project execution by enhancing financial planning, analysis, and reporting efforts while reinforcing client-centric practices and driving process efficiencies.

The ideal candidate will be based in Akron, OH. This is a full-time, in-office position, and candidates are expected to work onsite at our Akron office.

As Financial Analyst, you may:

  • Lead the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of financial planning materials, including forecasts, accruals, and budget tracking, with minimal oversight.
  • Identify and support the implementation of process improvements and efficiencies within the financial management framework.
  • Independently coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy, transparency, and consistency of financial data across project lifecycles.
  • Provide mentorship, support, and contribute to onboarding new staff, as needed.
  • Deliver thoughtful alternatives and financial solutions when reviewing budget changes or resource allocation scenarios.
  • Conduct QA/QC on financial deliverables, ensuring client systems are updates, and pay strong attention to detail in all deliverables.
  • Serve as a reliable contributor to board and committee meetings, assisting in the preparation of materials and attending when required.
  • Take the initiative in developing subject matter expertise in client-specific software and tolls and demonstrate ongoing self-directed learning.
  • Support Continuous improvement by proposing enhancements to financial systems, reporting, and workflows.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to meet financial deadlines, stakeholder expectations, and evolving project needs.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in core interpersonal and technical skills, including communication, ethical judgement, organization, teamwork, and Excel.
  • Applying advanced attention to detail and time management to ensure all tasks meet the required standards and deadlines.
  • Supporting data integrity by maintaining consistent and accurate financial information across platforms and databases.
  • Prioritizing tasks strategically and aligning deliverables with business and client objectives.
  • Creating and interpreting reports with a strong understanding of data analysis, financial reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Supporting financial modeling tasks and applying insights into projects and client-specific challenges.
  • Delivering excellent customer satisfaction by consistently responding to client needs and maintaining productive relationships.
  • Pursuing opportunities to support organizational improvement.
  • Participating in feedback loops and contributing to lessons learned for continuous growth and process evolutions.
  • Function independently and competently in all beginner-level skills; begin to demonstrate confident use of proficient-level skills.
  • Share knowledge and provide peer-to-peer mentorship while also receiving coaching from senior team members.
  • Engage actively in the development of internal processes and best practices.
  • Maintain high-quality deliverables with consistency and ownership.

What we require:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in: accounting, finance, business, mathematics or related field.
  • 2-4+ years of relevant financial analysis experience
  • Familiarity with Client-specific financial systems and databases, or ability to learn them quickly.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and organized work style.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
