Reports To: Sr. VP of Finance  

Grade/Level: Salary 

Amount of Travel Required: <1%   

Work Schedule: M-F, usually 730 AM - 4 PM

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company. This position will involve leading the accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and implementing best practices for financial controls and procedures. The Senior Accounting Manager will work closely with senior leadership to provide key financial insights and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.

Financial Reporting:  

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage the company's general ledger, including all journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Coordinate the preparation of reports for management, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.

Budgeting and Forecasting:  

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Financial Analysis:  

  • Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Evaluate business opportunities, including investments, mergers, and acquisitions, to support corporate growth objectives.
  • Investigate variances, identify root cause, recommend improvements, and be a change agent for GLI.

Leadership and Team Management:  

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team, providing guidance and training on accounting principles and processes.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and create development plans for team members.

Internal Control, Audit, and Compliance:  

  • Establish and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Provide necessary documentation and schedules to facilitate a smooth audit process.

Process Improvement:  

  • Continuously review and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Identify and implement best practices in financial reporting, accounting procedures, and internal controls.

Cross-Department Collaboration:  

  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, procurement, and sales, to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and support to senior management in strategic decision-making.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The Sr. Accounting Manager must be proactive and energetic, committed to excelling at all Finance & Accounting aspects, essential tasks as well as committed to the team, culture and organization to maintain a well-run and respectable department. The Sr. Accounting Manager position is strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to move in a fast-paced environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

Computer Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Quickbooks & IBMI ERP systems is a plus.

Certificates & Licenses: CPA or CMA certification preferred 

Other Requirements:  He/she must participate in mandated company emergency procedures such as fire evacuation procedures and active shooter procedures. They will also comply with company building and parking procedures.  


Other Physical Requirements: 
WORK ENVIRONMENT  

Work is performed primarily in the office. The noise level is generally quiet with occasional moments of louder activity. Work may also be performed in the office, helping to assist with activities needed in that area. Work is to be performed normally during company's operating hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm CST Monday through Friday. There are few exceptions of extended work hours.
